Emergency Operations Planning

Planning for an emergency can be daunting but is an essential component to ensure the safety of our children.

WISD can assist with various aspects of developing and training to support Emergency Operations Plan implementation. Per MCL 380.1308b, each district/local education agency (LEA) is required to develop and provide training on the implementation of an Emergency Operations Plan (EOP). Specific details on what types of emergencies must be included in a comprehensive plan, as well as the language of what is required, can be found here. The EOP must be reviewed biannually, and certification of this review submitted to the Michigan Department of Education via the Michigan Electronic Grants System (MEGS+).

Washtenaw County districts and LEAs may request a template EOP and support for development of the EOP by contacting Sarah Hierman.

Drill Reporting Legislature

All Washtenaw County School Administrators:

In conjunction with Michigan Public Act 12 of 2014, the Washtenaw County Sheriff Emergency Services Division has established an online form to assist you with reporting scheduled drills during the 2022-2023 school year.  Please check your email for the link.

The format is designed to ensure that each piece of required information is collected. According to the Act, the deadline for reporting your drills is not later than September 15 of each school year so this electronic reporting system will cease to accept reports at 11:59 PM on that date. Immediately following the deadline, the Emergency Services Division will begin distributing the reports to the appropriate public safety officials as required by the Act. The information collected is exempt from disclosure under the Freedom of Information Act.

Please contact me at (734) 222-3951 if you have any questions. Thank you.
