Early Head Start

Home-Based -

Early Head Start (EHS) provides weekly home visits lasting 1.5 hours that focus on enjoying your role as a parent, developing the necessary skills to enhance your child’s development, day to day concerns, and parenting information through developmental parenting education. Socialization events are also held twice per month offering fun and educational activities for the enrolled child and their family. This program is year-round and is free for low-income families (according to federal guidelines or special needs), pregnant women and children ages 0-3 years.

Center Based -

The Center Based Early Head Start program provides high-quality early education for children aged 18 months to 3 years. Located at Gretchen's House High Point in Ann Arbor and Beatty Early Learning Center in Ypsilanti, the program utilizes the HighScope curriculum, which emphasizes active learning and hands-on experiences. Dedicated staff nurture development through play-based learning, individualized support, and family engagement in a safe, inclusive environment. This approach fosters cognitive, social, and emotional growth, preparing young children for a successful transition to preschool. Families are actively involved in their child's learning journey, ensuring a strong foundation for lifelong learning.
