  • HAWC is Washtenaw County’s central intake for individuals and families who are homeless or at-risk of homelessness.  The central intake is the single point of entry for all emergency shelters and housing resources that are available to serve people experiencing homelessness in the county.  Residents of Washtenaw County may call HAWC for housing assistance, information and/or referral.  Please note that there is a severe shortage of housing resources in Washtenaw County and HAWC is not able to help all people who are experiencing a housing crisis.

Walk-in hours: Monday through Friday 9:00 am - 2:00 pm

  • SafeHouse Center provides support for those impacted by domestic violence of sexual assault. SafeHouse provides free and confidential services for any person victimized that lives or works in Washtenaw county.

 

Rental and Legal Help for Tenants in Washtenaw County

Go to ALL court hearings (especially your first one) 

  • If you miss ANY of your hearings, the court may take a "default judgment" against you, leading to your eviction and making it harder to rent other places in the future.
  • The hearing instructions can be found on the "Summons."
  • You can attend court:
    • through Zoom by phone or video, or
    • in-person at the court
  • If you have questions about going to your hearing, call the court.
