Frequently Asked Questions

New Families

New families should begin by completing the Online ChildPlus Preschool Application. This application helps us determine which preschool program may be the best fit for your child and family.

No. The Online ChildPlus Application must be completed in one session.

After you finish the application, you will be directed to a document upload page. You may return to this upload page at any time using your link to submit or update documents.

If your upload link no longer works, this usually means your application has been forwarded to one of your selected program preferences. At that point, the original link changes.

If you need a new upload link, please contact the program and staff will provide one.

Please be prepared to submit all of the following:

  • Proof of birth (birth certificate, hospital record, passport, etc.)

  • Immunization record

  • Proof of residence (utility bill, lease, lease agreement, etc.)

  • Proof of income (tax return, W-2, DHHS statement, etc.)

  • Guardianship or custody documents (if applicable)

A physical exam is required within the first 30 days of enrollment.

Returning Families

Yes. Returning families must complete the Online ChildPlus Application each year so we can confirm current information and eligibility.

You may be asked to update or reverify documents, especially if your income, address, or household information has changed since your last enrollment.

If your address, income, or household information changes at any time, please notify the program as soon as possible so your child’s application can be updated.

Application FAQs

No. Completing the online application is the first step in the process. Additional information, including income verification, is required before enrollment can be finalized.

Yes. While placement is based on eligibility, applying early provides more placement options. Waiting until late summer may limit availability if programs are already full.

Selection is based on:

  • Child’s age

  • Family income (Federal Poverty Level guidelines)

  • Program-specific eligibility requirements

Applications are reviewed first to determine Head Start eligibility. Children with the greatest need are prioritized.

We cannot guarantee placement at a specific site. Some programs may be full, or your child may not meet eligibility requirements for a particular location. Selecting multiple preferences increases placement opportunities.

Programs typically contact families within 15 business days (about 20 calendar days) after an application is submitted.

If you have not been contacted after that time, please reach out to the program. Make sure your contact information is accurate and current.
